easyJet firms options for 56 A320neo Family aircraft
24.06.2022 - 05:46 UTCeasyJet (U2, London Luton) has firmed purchase rights and options for fifty-six A320neo Family aircraft, which are now scheduled for delivery to the low-cost carrier between 2026 and 2029.
The airline said in an investor update it also converted orders for eighteen A320-200Ns due for delivery between 2024 and 2027 into A321-200Ns. It did not provide a breakdown of the 56 firmed options by variant.
"The new aircraft will be purchased under the 2013 Agreement, meaning the company will continue to benefit from the highly competitive pricing and the flexibility rights in this agreement. These aircraft are priced very substantially below the Airbus list price, and benefit from attractive price escalation protection. In addition, the Airbus Amendment continues to offer flexibility with respect to delivery dates and the ability to convert A320neo aircraft to A321neo aircraft," easyJet said.
easyJet said it decided to firm the options now as it was aware that Airbus delivery slots were scarce. As such, had it not firmed its options, it would have failed to secure...
easyJet inks sales/lease-backs for ten A319s
03.03.2022 - 11:47 UTCeasyJet (U2, London Luton) has entered into a sale and leaseback transaction for ten A319-100s with Aergo Capital.
All ten aircraft are 2008 builds. The ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows that six of them are currently operated by easyJet Europe (EC, Vienna) and four by easyJet UK (U2, London Luton). It is the first leasing deal between Aergo Capital and easyJet.
The holding operates ninety-nine A319-100s across its three Air Operator's Certificates, including easyJet Switzerland (DS, Geneva). All 2008-build aircraft or older are now leased, while the remaining 44 younger aircraft remain largely owned by easyJet or easyJet Leasing except for eight leased units, the ch-aviation fleets ownership module indicates.
The LCC's chief financial officer, Kenton Jarvis, said the airline would "continue to utilise sale and leasebacks for the A319 type while we transition these aircraft from the fleet and introduce newer technology Airbus A320neo family aircraft".
easyJet group's A320neo fleet comprises forty-one A320-200Ns and fifteen A321-200NXs. The holding...
