Lao Airlines (QV, Vientiane) inaugurated direct flights between Vientiane and Zhanjiang Wuchuan on December 23, 2025. The carrier is the first foreign airline to operate international services at the new Chinese airport, which replaced the old Zhanjiang facility in 2022. The route is operated 3x weekly with A320-200 aircraft.

The launch coincides with the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Laos. According to ch-aviation schedules data, Vientiane is now linked to 27 airports in China. In the fourth quarter alone, Lao Airlines added four new links to China: Nanning, Ningbo, Sanya, and Zhanjiang Wuchuan.
