Twenty-eight aircraft have been destroyed at Sudan’s Khartoum International Airport since mid-April 2023, aviation sources told the Sudan Tribune, underscoring the scale of the damage from the country’s ongoing conflict. The losses include cargo and passenger aircraft operated by local and foreign carriers, many struck during attacks by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which has been fighting the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) since 2023. The airport in the Sudanese capital has remained closed for nearly three years, and the recent plans to reopen it by January 2026 have so far not materialised.
