Hunnu Air (MR, Ulaanbaatar) plans to expand its fleet with additional Embraer regional jets and is considering Airbus narrowbodies to launch scheduled flights to India, Uzbekistan, and the Middle East, according to vice president and chief commercial officer Turbold Tserenkhuu.
Tserenkhuu told Aviation Week that the airline wants to commence scheduled services to Tashkent International and Delhi International as early as 2026. The carrier currently serves the Indian capital via charter flights.
To support this immediate network expansion, the privately owned airline is in talks with lessors to lease one additional Embraer jet in the latter part of 2026, although no further details were disclosed.
Moreover, Tserenkhuu noted that for long-term growth the operator will consider acquiring larger narrowbody aircraft, most likely Airbus-made. Those would allow Hunnu Air to serve the Middle East. It historically operated two A319-100s from 2012 to 2014.
Hunnu Air is also expecting to receive two Cessna (single turboprop) C208EX Grand Caravans and two Cessna 408s in 2026. However, the airline confirmed that its sole ATR42-500, JU-1803 (msn 641), is grounded due to a lack of spares and will be phased out.
Beyond Central Asia and India, the carrier is evaluating scheduled services to Viet Nam and the Philippines. It recently operated a 6.5-hour charter flight to Phu Quoc, which the airline claims is the longest nonstop service operated by an E195-E2.
According to ch-aviation data, Hunnu Air operates a five-aircraft fleet, comprising the single long-grounded ATR42-500, two E190s, and two E195-E2s. It flies to eight destinations in three countries.
