Toki Air (BV, Niigata) will operate familiarisation and charter flights to Sado Shima in May 2026, about 12 years after scheduled flights to Sado Island from Niigata were suspended in April 2014. A familiarisation flight on the Niigata-Sado route is scheduled on May 19, while a Kobe-Sado charter for tour operators is planned for May 28. The Japanese regional carrier plans to evaluate the flights before launching Sado charters in autumn 2026, restoring connectivity to the island located off the western coast of Honshu, Japan's largest and most populous island.
