easyGroup Holdings, the investment vehicle for founder and now minority shareholder in easyJet Group, Stelios Haji-Ioannou, has sued UK-based fundraising company easyfundraising and its parent, The Support Group (UK), for copyright infringement in Ireland. The defendants claim that Irish courts have no jurisdiction, and cite an EU law saying that the sheer availability of a website in a country is not sufficient to claim jurisdiction if the company is not explicitly targeting the market. In 2024, the UK High Court dismissed an easyGroup copyright violation claim against easyfundraising in the UK.
easyfundraising allows customers to book a variety of services, including some travel tickets, with part of the payment donated to a charity.
