Loganair (LM, Glasgow International) has proposed covering its services from Inverness to Stornoway, Sumburgh, and Kirkwall in northern Scotland with a new public service obligation (PSO) contract to preserve capacity despite lagging demand. The airline said it had been losing money on these services for the last five or six years and that it will reduce frequencies starting on July 19, 2026. Loganair already holds a PSO for routes from Kirkwall to six outlying islands, funded by Orkney Islands Council, alongside other contracts in other parts of Scotland.
