Serbian Prime Minister Đuro Macut met with representatives of the Serbian Civil Aviation Directorate (CAD) on June 29, 2026, to discuss amendments to regulatory frameworks currently governing the operation of foreign airlines in the country. Impacts of the proposed amendments were analysed with the aim of "continuous improvement of the regulatory framework and international cooperation in the field of civil aviation." This comes as Wizz Air (W6, Budapest) claims it may be forced to close its Belgrade Nikola Tesla base after CAD adopted new routing rules for foreign carriers. Wizz Air upholds that the new rules are anticompetitive, discriminatory, and illegal.
