Air India (AI, Delhi International) has announced that it will deploy one of its new B787-9s on the route between Delhi and Toronto Pearson from August 1, 2026, which will enable the airline to remove the enroute fuel stop at Vienna and operate the service non-stop.

The removal of the fuel stop is subject to available airspaces, and will reduce the current flying time from Delhi to Toronto by nearly three hours, from around 20 hours currently (including the fuel stop) to 17. The route is currently operated with Air India’s B777-300ER fleet, and the return flight is already non-stop and lasts about 16 hours.

Furthermore, from the same date, Air India will operate daily flights between the two cities, up from the current 5x weekly flights. The carrier had temporarily reduced frequencies on the route due to the fuel price increases and broader geopolitical developments.
