MHI RJ Aviation (Montréal Mirabel) is evaluating options for a future regional aircraft that could eventually succeed the CRJ family, with potential entry into service around 2040. The work remains at an early stage and covers aircraft configuration, propulsion, operating economics, and the efficiency gains needed to support a launch. The OEM believes demand will remain for smaller regional jets, particularly in the US, while the existing CRJ fleet retains substantial remaining service life.
