Altura Airlines has commenced operations out of Perth International as a majority Indigenous-owned virtual charter carrier offering charter capacity sourced through Maroomba Airlines (Perth International) and planning to introduce A320 aircraft from 2027.
In a media statement, Altura said it was founded by Amanda Healy with Michael Evans and Phil Garcia, both executives of Maroomba Airlines. Altura identifies Maroomba Airlines on its website as its management company. The start-up was incorporated as a standalone company in October 2025, but its ownership data is not publicly available.
The carrier said its fleet offering includes DHC-8-100, DHC-8-Q300, and DHC-8-Q400 aircraft. However, according to the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) aircraft register, Maroomba's operating entity, Nantay Pty Ltd, does not operate a DHC-8-Q400, but has one DHC-8-100 and five DHC-8-Q300s.
"Altura Airlines was created to connect people, projects, and communities while creating meaningful opportunities for Indigenous participation, employment and economic empowerment," Healy said. The start-up is targeting the resources, government, tourism, and charter sectors from its Western Australian base.
Regulatory data shows that Maroomba Airlines holds a valid air operator's certificate no. CASA.AOC.0083 for Part 119 air transport operations. The certificate expires in July 2027.
