WestJet (WS, Calgary) has completed a cabin retrofit of the narrowbody aircraft formerly operated by its subsidiaries Swoop and Sunwing Airlines, moving away from an all-economy configuration, adding upgraded premium seating, expanding the economy "comfort" cabin, and standardising the single-aisle fleet across the airline’s brand.
Looking ahead, WestJet will begin refurbishing its legacy narrowbody aircraft in September, with the process expected to be completed by the end of 2027. Approximately fourteen B737-800s will be updated this year.
The airline’s operations team is also updating its fleet liveries. By the end of 2026, all WestJet aircraft are expected to feature the airline’s teal and navy livery.
The airline’s fleet comprises thirty-five B737-700s, sixty-nine B737-8s, fifty-four B737-800s, seven B787-9s, and thirty-five DHC-8-Q400s (operated by subsidiary WestJet Encore).
