Air Frontier (Darwin) has grounded all Beech (twin piston) Baron aircraft following the crash of one of the company's Baron 58s. The 1978-built Baron 58, VH-AKH (msn TH-972), reportedly crashed on the morning of August 25 in the Gulf of Carpentaria. "The aircraft was undertaking a non-commercial repositioning flight with no passengers from Nhulunbuy to Numbulwar, with the pilot believed to be the sole occupant on board. As a precaution, we have grounded all Beechcraft Baron aircraft in our fleet pending advice from the relevant authorities," the company said.

In addition to the crashed aircraft, Air Frontier operates two Baron 55s and eight Baron 58s. The company provides passenger and freight charter services, as well as scenic flights and fishing lodge transfers, with a fleet of more than 50 aircraft comprising Beech (single piston), Cessna (single piston), Beech (twin piston), and Piper (twin piston) aircraft.
