SalamAir (OV, Muscat) has received fifth freedom rights to operate flights between Muscat and Copenhagen Kastrup, via Baghdad, and will start the route on November 14, 2026. The Copenhagen-Baghdad leg is expected to cater to high demand between the two cities, the Omani carrier said.
With the introduction of the connection, Baghdad International Airport will gain its first link to the European Union. Carriers operating from Baghdad to Europe at the moment predominantly serve Istanbul Airport (Turkish Airlines, UR Airlines, Fly Baghdad, and Basra Airlines). Fly Baghdad and Iraqi Airways remain on the EU’s operating ban list over aircraft safety standards.
