Swiss (LX, Zurich) will end its wet-lease cooperation with airBaltic, which is undergoing US Chapter 11 restructuring, after the 2026/27 winter timetable, as it reduces its reliance on third-party aircraft and crews. For summer 2027, Swiss plans to cut its wet-leased fleet from 26 aircraft to 18, focusing primarily on Helvetic Airways as its wet-lease partner. The airline said easing Pratt & Whitney engine shortages and flight crew constraints would allow it to operate more flights itself. According to ch-aviation data, Swiss currently wet leases eleven A220-300s from airBaltic and fourteen Embraer regional jets from Helvetic, including seven E190-E2s, four E190-E2s, and three E195 advanced range variants.
