Switzerland-based charter broker specialist Simply Jet has acquired Austrian AOC-holder FlyTyrol (FTY, Innsbruck). Speaking exclusively to ch-aviation, Simply Jet CEO and co-founder Yann-Guillaume Jaccard said the transaction enables the group to provide a full spectrum of aviation services in-house, while outlining plans to add two to three aircraft per year to FlyTyrol's fleet between 2027 and 2030.
FlyTyrol was founded in 2001 and operates under Austrian AOC #A-034. The company's fleet, based at Innsbruck, comprises four aircraft, including a Citation M2 and a Citation Jet 3+, both available for charter, alongside two privately managed jets, a Citation Jet 2+ and a Citation XLS.
The company employs 14 people. Simply Jet will retain FlyTyrol's staff and brand. In 2027, FlyTyrol founder Helmut Eder will step down and be succeeded by Philipp Jarnoth as managing director.
Jaccard described the acquisition as “the missing piece of the puzzle” for Simply Jet. “Since our foundation in 2016, we focused on charter brokerage services, a jet card programme, and aircraft acquisition and sales. We can now run charter operations and offer aircraft management solutions in-house, allowing our charter customers to progress to aircraft ownership while maintaining the same relationships.”
Simply Jet is headquartered in Switzerland, with subsidiaries in France and the United Kingdom. “We're in the DACH region and wanted a company with the same cultural fit. Furthermore, Austria provides a quite favourable regulatory environment for growth in both charter and management,” he explained.
Looking ahead, Simply Jet plans to increase the number of aircraft managed by FlyTyrol to 10. “We're aiming to induct two to three aircraft per year to FlyTyrol's fleet between 2027 and 2030. Our preference is to onboard aircraft which will be available for charter,” Jaccard noted.
Adding further Citation-series jets would create additional synergies, although Simply Jet remains open to other manufacturers. “We currently have prospects to add aircraft of other OEMs and in different segments than those already on FlyTyrol's AOC,” he added.
Following FlyTyrol's acquisition, Simply Jet will remain in the market for further opportunities. “These might or might not be AOCs. We'll study what's the right fit for us and don't exclude adding other aviation companies, including MROs,” Jaccard concluded.
