BoA - Boliviana de Aviación (OB, La Paz El Alto) has stalled on the launch of its proposed new domestic subsidiary, BoA Regional (OB, La Paz El Alto), owing to a lack of adequate funding. BoA's CEO Ronald Casso told Bolivia's Educación Radiofónica that no definitive launch date has yet been set as the airline has yet to secure all USD87million required to purchase four MA-60s and associated sundries from Xian Aircraft Company (Xi'an Yanliang) in China.

"Only about USD7million has so far been allocated to the project. We have requested a loan of more than USD82million for the purchase of four aircraft and a flight simulator to train pilots, but otherwise, that's where the project is at the moment," he told the radio station.

Casso went on to add that despite the signing of an agreement with the Chinese for the supply of aircraft, the deal had not as yet gone ahead as no credit agreement had yet ironed out.

Once BoA Regional is a reality, the turboprops will be placed into service on routes connecting Riberalta, Guayaramerin, Rurrenabaque, Villamontes, Uyuni, Potosí Capitan Nicolas Rojas, Oruro, and Puerto Suárez domestically.
