Austrian Airlines (OS, Vienna) has announced further long-haul network cutbacks. It will give up its Vienna-Shanghai Pu Dong route on January 7 and its leisure routes to Colombo, Kathmandu, Male, Mauritius and Phuket by the end of April. AUA will already give up its Vienna-Pecs route on November 10. It will also retire its two A340-300s in spring and its four A330-200s later in 2007. Austrian will give up the Lauda Air brand for its leisure division and will transfer its remaining three Fokker 70s to subsidiary Austrian arrows (VO/Innsbruck). It has signed a cooperation agreement with the Russian Kras Air (7B/Krasnoyarsk) lead airline alliance AiRUnion, Austrian will offer its passengers connections to Russian destinations via Moscow Domodedovo and AiRUnion carriers Kras Air and Samara Airlines (E5/Samara) are planning to add Vienna to their networks.
