Sky Gates Airlines (U3, Moscow Vnukovo) has begun its quest for an AOC ahead of plans to commence cargo operations later on in September this year.
Airline Director General, Pyotr Morozov, told Rusaviainsider that initially, the start-up will lease a single B747-400F growing that number to three early next year. Then, with the opening of the freight terminal at Zhukovsky in autumn next year, the fleet could then grow to six. While Ramenskoye's infrastructure is completed, Sky Gates will use other airports, he said.
In terms of network, Sky Gates will focus on the Russian domestic and international markets with focus largely on South East Asia.
The start-up is controlled by the Sky Gates Rus. Company, 20% of which is owned by Globus Distribution Management, and 80% by Alexander Khmelevskikh.
