The Italian Civil Aviation Authority (Ente Nazionale per l'Aviazone Civile - ENAC) has awarded Ryanair (FR, Dublin International) traffic rights for a 4x weekly service between Milan Bergamo and Algiers.

According to the ENAC documentation, flights have to commence by October 1, 2019, or else Ryanair will lose the awarded traffic rights. The Irish LCC was the only carrier to apply for traffic rights to Algeria.

Algiers currently sees limited connectivity by European LCCs with 32 weekly flights by Vueling Airlines and three by Transavia France (TO, Paris Orly). Vueling also operates to Oran Ahmed Ben Bella.

For its part, Ryanair's African network is currently limited to Morocco, where it serves nine airports in total.

Alitalia (AZA, Rome Fiumicino) flies between Algiers and Rome Fiumicino, while Air Algérie (AH, Algiers) serves both the Italian capital and Milan Malpensa from its main base.
