Chile's JetSMART takes first A321neo
02.08.2022 - 20:39 UTCJetSMART (JA, Santiago de Chile Int'l) took delivery of the first of its forty-seven firm-ordered A321-200NX on July 28, 2022.
CC-AWT (msn 10965) was subsequently ferried from Hamburg Finkenwerder via Gander and San José Juan Santamaría to Santiago de Chile Int'l over the course of July 29-31. The aircraft, which has yet to be inducted into revenue service, is owned by Aviation Capital Group and configured in a single-class layout for up to 240 passengers.
The Chilean low-cost carrier has a further forty-six A321neo, as well as thirty-seven A320-200Ns and fourteen A321-200NY(XLR)s on firm order from Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac). The aircraft are a part of two orders for 430 and 255 A320neo Family jets placed by parent firm Indigo Partners on behalf of its various LCCs in November 2017 and in October 2021, respectively. JetSMART has plans to lease an additional twelve A320-200Ns from BOC Aviation.

JetSMART Peru outlines late 2Q22 launch plans
10.05.2022 - 09:09 UTCJetSMART Peru (JZ, Lima Int'l) is planning to begin scheduled operations on June 14, 2022, with the initial fleet of two A320-200Ns.
The Peruvian subsidiary of Chilean low-cost carrier JetSMART (JA, Santiago de Chile Int'l) will operate the following routes:
- from Lima Int'l to Arequipa, Cuzco, Trujillo Carlos Martinez de Pinillos (all starting on June 14), Piura (June 21), Tarapoto (July 5), Talara (August 9), Juliaca (August 17), Iquitos (August 24), and Cajamarca (August 31), and
- from Arequipa to Cuzco (June 15), Trujillo (June 16), Piura (June 24), and Tarapoto (August 8).
Recently certified JetSMART Peru initially targeted a July 2022 launch with a fleet of three A320-200Ns. The LCC said that in line with its Chilean strategy, it would combine services to/from Lima and direct regional routes bypassing the capital to improve Peru's overall connectivity.

JetSMART Peru completes certification, to launch in 3Q22
12.04.2022 - 18:36 UTCJetSMART Peru (JZ, Lima Int'l) has completed its certification drive in Peru, securing its Air Operator's Certificate on March 21, 2022.
The ultra-low-cost carrier, a sister company of Chile's JetSMART and JetSMART Argentina, plans to operate its first flight in July 2022, although this is not yet fixed.
JetSMART Peru will launch with a fleet of three A320-200Ns plying a domestic network consisting of Lima Int'l, Arequipa, Chiclayo, Cuzco, Iquitos, Juliaca, Pucallpa, Puerto Maldonado, Piura, Tarapoto, and Trujillo Carlos Martinez de Pinillos. Chief Executive Estuardo Ortiz explained that Lima will remain JetSMART Peru's main base in the country, but stressed that it would also operate point-to-point routes bypassing the capital. The ULCC also plans to operate international services.
The carrier received its operating licence for domestic and international routes in the fourth quarter of 2021.
