American Airlines (AA, Dallas/Fort Worth) has placed an order with Embraer (EMB, São José dos Campos Professor Urbano Ernesto Stumpf) for three incremental E175s due for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2022. The aircraft will be operated by Envoy Air (MQ, Dallas/Fort Worth), the airline's regional capacity provider.

Envoy Air already operates ninety-eight E175s on behalf of its parent, in addition to eight E170s and fifty-seven E145s, the ch-aviation fleets module shows. A further ninety-one E175s are operated under the American Eagle banner by Republic Airways (YX, Indianapolis International) and 18 more by SkyWest Airlines (OO, Salt Lake City). The ch-aviation fleets ownership module shows that while Envoy Air operates aircraft owned by American Airlines, the other two regional capacity providers own their E175 fleets.

With a total of 207 E175s, American Airlines trumps both United Airlines (153 aircraft) and Delta Air Lines (98) in terms of the type's fleet.

Even as Embraer is moving towards the E2 generation aircraft, the E175-E1 remains an important part of its order book. Including this newly placed American Airlines commitment, the Brazilian manufacturer has 142 firm orders for the type (all of them placed by American regional capacity providers) out of its total outstanding order book of 314 jets.
