"During the IATA AGM [to be held between June 4-6, 2023, in Istanbul] we are going to announce orders. With one of the big manufacturers, we are almost finishing our discussions," Bolat said.
He clarified that the airline is closer to a deal with Boeing but will also order some aircraft "from the other manufacturer" - Airbus - likely during the Paris Air Show in mid-July.
The order will likely comprise 400 narrowbodies and 200 widebodies with deliveries spread over the next 10 years.

17.04.2023 - 03:39 UTCTurkish Airlines (TK, Istanbul Airport) plans to nearly double its fleet to 800 aircraft by 2033, with that of its low-cost division AnadoluJet (TK, Ankara Esenboga) to expand almost fourfold.
The strategic plan foresees "reinventing AnadoluJet's brand positioning, revenue composition and cost structure in a way that will increase its competitiveness, and owning a fleet of 200 aircraft, all of which will be new generation aircraft". The airline did not disclose any further details concerning the specific make-up of its projected fleet by manufacturer or aircraft type.
The ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows that AnadoluJet's current in-house fleet comprises four A320-200Ns, nine A321-200NX, seven B737-8s, and thirty-eight B737-800s. The airline continues to wet-lease a single B737-800 from SunExpress (a joint venture of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa) as the last trace of a long-term deal which was supposed to end in December 2022. AnadoluJet's fleet also includes six A320-200s and six A321-200s wet-leased under a seasonal agreement from SmartLynx Airlines/SmartLynx Airlines Malta...
Qatar Airways scoops B737-8s not delivered to S7 Airlines
06.04.2023 - 03:28 UTCQatar Airways (QR, Doha Hamad International) is set to add nine B737-8s, opportunistically picked up after their deliveries to sanctioned Russian carrier S7 Airlines became impossible, thus accelerating and expanding its narrowbody rollover to new-generation aircraft.
"Qatar Airways recently had the opportunity to add a small number of B737-8 MAX aircraft to its fleet in the coming months as it aims to add capacity to help drive future growth, especially in the short-haul markets. As a rapidly growing airline, these efficient and modern aircraft are a welcome addition to the narrowbody fleet to support our sustainable expansion plans as the world's leading airline," the carrier told Doha News.
The ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows that at least three of the aircraft will be on lease from Air Lease Corporation.
S7 Airlines took delivery of two B737-8s before the type's global grounding. The aircraft were placed with its technical subsidiary Globus. However, as Russia has still not fully ungrounded the type (except for Belavia operations), S7 obtained permission...
