Loganair (LM, Glasgow International) has added its third ATR72-500(F) through a 48-month dry-lease agreement with ASL Airlines Ireland (ABR, Dublin International), Cargo Facts has reported.
It is the first turboprop leased out by an ASL Aviation Holdings unit to a third-party carrier, although ASL Airlines Ireland already leases one B737-300 out to KlasJet (KLJ, Vilnius), the ch-aviation fleets ownership module shows.
G-LMRX (msn 577), then registered as EI-SOO, was retired by ASL at the end of 2021. After maintenance in Sofia and a period of storage at Shannon, it was ferried to Aberdeen Dyce on June 27, 2022, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows. It was subsequently re-registered in the United Kingdom and began operations on behalf of the Scottish airline on July 4. It is currently deployed on regional routes in Scotland (covering Aberdeen, Kirkwall, and Inverness) and to Nottingham East Midlands in England.
Loganair's cargo fleet comprises two more ATR72-500(F)s - dry-leased from Falko Regional Aircraft and Nordic Aviation Capital - as well as two Saab 340A(F)s and two Saab 340B(F)s.
In turn, ASL Airlines Ireland is currently expanding its ATR72-500(F) fleet, even as it has leased one out to Loganair. The Irish cargo specialist recently added EI-HAC (msn 674), a converted ex-CSA Czech Airlines unit, and has two more ex-CSA ATR72-500s under conversion. They will be inducted by the end of 2022. A sistership of the units leased out to Loganair, EI-SOP (msn 583), has been parked at Sofia since late March 2022 but will be sent for maintenance and reactivated later this year, ASL Airlines confirmed.
The Irish carrier's ATR - Avions de Transport Régional freighter fleet also comprises two ATR72-200(F)s (one in maintenance at Sofia airport) and four ATR72-600Fs. All six are operated on behalf of FedEx, which also owns three -600Fs.
