Air Europa (UX, Palma de Mallorca) has secured an incremental five B787-9s and ten B737-8s from AerCap with deliveries to run between 2024 and 2026.

The Spanish carrier, which will become the first airline in the country to induct the B737 MAX, simultaneously announced an agreement with Boeing to restructure its existing order book. While it did not disclose any details, it did say that the agreement set out a path for it to build its fleet around the B737 MAX and B787 families exclusively.

"We are delighted to have reached an agreement with Air Europa on the restructuring of its B737 MAX and B787 Dreamliner orders. These new agreements will provide full flexibility for Air Europa to sustainably grow its operations and increase seating capacity throughout its network to capitalize on the growing demand that we anticipate the transport sector will have in Spain in the coming years," Boeing Vice-President (Sales and Marketing, Europe, Israel, and Turkey) Ricardo Cavero said.

The ch-aviation fleets module shows that Air Europa had commitments for twenty B737-8s and ten B787-9s, including five from Boeing and five from lessors, prior to this new announcement. The carrier's current fleet comprises seventeen B737-800s, due to be replaced with the MAX, ten B787-8s, and twelve -9s. Air Europa retired its last non-Boeing aircraft - A330-200s and A330-300s - during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Air Europa is currently jointly owned by Globalia (which holds an 80% stake) and IAG International Airlines Group (20%).
