SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK, Copenhagen Kastrup) has successfully amended the lease terms of a further seven aircraft and their associated equipment in a deal involving two lessors. The airline says the amended agreement with Carlyle Aviation Partners and SMBC Aviation Capital remains subject to court approval but is an important step towards completing their restructuring plan. SAS Scandinavian Airlines has now reached new lease agreements with 12 lessors covering 43 aircraft.

According to the ch-aviation fleets module, Carlyle Aviation Partners have two A320-200Ns on operating leases at SAS - LN-RGO (msn 7352) and SE-DOY (msn 7499) - while Dublin-based SMBC has four A320-200Ns at the airline on operating leases - SE-ROC (msn7723), SE-ROD (msn 7755), SE-ROY (msn 9316), and SE-RUE (msn 10407).

"We are grateful to our lessors for working constructively with us in making important progress in our chapter 11 process," said Anko van der Werff, President and Chief Executive Officer of SAS. "We will continue to take necessary action and pursue additional lease amendments."

SAS Scandinavian voluntarily filed for chapter 11 in July 2022 to "accelerate the implementation" of its restructuring plan called SAS Forward. The airline is chasing annual aircraft lease and capital cost savings of between SEK850 million (US76 million) and SEK1 billion (USD89.4 million). This is part of a bigger strategy to reduce the airline's annual costs by SEK7.5 billion (USD670 million) by FY 2026.
