Romania's Dan Air adjusts network plans pre-launch
22.05.2023 - 12:44 UTCDan Air (DN, Bucharest Baneasa) has adjusted its scheduled network plans almost a month before the flights are due to launch, with a stronger focus now on destinations in Spain and Germany.
As first reported by BoardingPass.ro, the Romanian carrier, formerly known as Just Us Air, will not operate scheduled flights from Bucharest Henri Coanda to Berlin Brandenburg International, Munich, Rome Fiumicino, Milan Linate, and Budapest (all of which scheduled as weekly except for 2x weekly Budapest flights). Instead, it has added a new route from the capital airport to Malaga (2x weekly from June 18, 2023) and Madrid Barajas (weekly from June 17).
Dan Air also plans to operate services from its second base at Brasov to Munich and Nuremberg 2x weekly each, instead of the previously planned weekly.
Dan Air will launch scheduled operations on June 15, 2023. All flights will be operated with an A320-200. It currently operates three units of the type: one each wet-leased to Air...
Kuwait's Jazeera Airways to lease two A321s
08.05.2023 - 05:28 UTCThe board of Jazeera Airways (J9, Kuwait) has approved leasing two A320-200s and two A321-200s at a board meeting held in Kuwait on May 2, 2023. The aircraft will provide the Kuwaiti budget carrier with capacity ahead while awaiting deliveries of A320neo family aircraft from Airbus.
According to a filing with the Kuwait Stock Exchange (KSE), the transaction is expected to have a positive impact on the carrier's revenues and operations "but the immediate impact cannot be quantified." Jazeera Airways presently operates a fleet of nine A320-200s and eleven A320-200Ns, 16 of which are leased. In notes accompanying a May 3 earnings call, the airline said it expects to grow its fleet to 24 by the end of the year. Jazeera Airways has an outstanding order with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for twenty A320-200Ns and eight A321-200Ns.
In March, ch-aviation reported that Jazeera Airways was wet-leasing an A320-200 from Dan Air (DN, Bucharest Baneasa) to provide a short-term capacity top up over the Ramadan, Eid, and...
India rejects Gulf carriers' calls for more air access
24.03.2023 - 01:09 UTCIndia will not increase air traffic quotas for Gulf states and rather wants Indian carriers to provide more international airlift, local aerospace companies to increase production, and will soon finalise rules to safeguard the rights of lessors to repossess aircraft, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has told Reuters.
He was reacting to pressure from the UAE's Emirates and Kuwait's Jazeera Airways to allow more capacity to India and secondary routes in one of the world's fastest-growing aviation markets where demand for air travel is outstripping aircraft supply, but where the bulk of international traffic is provided by foreign airlines with efficient hubs.
Jazeera Airways Chief Executive Officer Rohit Ramachandran recently called for the carrier's weekly allowance of 12,000 seats to be upped to 28,000 seats to reflect economic trends adequately, while the UAE has asked India to approve 50,000 extra seats from the region. Emirates President Tim Clark sees scope for doubling the weekly limit of 65,000 seats. He has warned that Indian airlines are short-changing themselves by USD1 billion a year because of the restrictions....
