Turkish Airlines (TK, Istanbul Airport) has signed a lease with AerCap covering three B787-9s and twenty-five B737-8s. All aircraft will deliver between 2024 and 2026 and will be contracted for 12 years.
The airline simultaneously extended its lease agreement for six A330-200s from the same company.
Turkish Airlines is adding incremental leases to secure its future fleet growth ahead of an anticipated order for up to 600 aircraft to placed directly from the manufacturers.
The ch-aviation fleets module shows that Turkish Airlines already operates twenty B787-9s and has five more on order from Boeing. Its B737 MAX fleet currently comprises twenty-seven B737-8s (including seven operated by the AnadoluJet division) and five B737-9s. It has no more direct orders for any B737 MAX variants but will be adding at least six -8s from CDB Aviation.
AerCap currently dry-leases 12 aircraft to the Turkish flag carrier: one A321-200NX, the six now-extended A330-200s, three B737-800s, and two B777-300(ER)s, according to the ch-aviation fleets ownership module.
