Austrian Airlines (OS, Vienna) and parent Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt International) will end their codeshare agreement with Turkish Airlines (TK, Istanbul Airport) effective March 29, 2014. German tourism publication, biztravel, says the two carriers believe the current codeshare arrangement no longer "makes financial sense". The likelihood of a withdrawal has been brewing for some time given Lufthansa's recent complaints that Turkish has added and continues to add routes from regional airports in Germany and Austria to its Istanbul Atatürk hub. Among the flights affected are domestic German and US-bound flights.
