NCA - Nippon Cargo Airlines (KZ, Tokyo Narita) has announced it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Singapore Airlines Cargo (SIAC) pertaining to the development of a strategic partnership.

A joint statement issued on Tuesday, February 13, said the proposed strategic partnership would allow both carriers to jointly pursue opportunities to create greater convenience for their customers. As such, it will build on existing block space arrangements between the two airlines that have been expanded progressively over the past five years.

Under the tie-up's first phase, NCA and the Singapore Airlines (SQ, Singapore Changi) unit plan to codeshare on flights between Tokyo Narita and Singapore Changi effective April 1, 2018, onwards. NCA currently operates six weekly scheduled flights to Singapore Changi Airport from Tokyo Narita Airport using B747F aircraft while Singapore Airlines Cargo connects Singapore to Tokyo via two daily flights to Narita Airport, and three daily flights to Tokyo Haneda Airport.

“NCA has maintained a continual presence in Singapore for over three decades, and we are excited to embark on new partnership initiatives with SIA under this agreement. The proposed codeshare service will pave the way for future ventures, leading to greater customer satisfaction.” NCA President & Chief Executive Officer, Fukashi Sakamoto, said.

Once the partnership is fully implemented, NAC and SIAC said either parties' customers would see added flexibility to better meet their needs.
