Aegean Airlines (A3, Athens) has firmed up a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) in March involving up to forty-two A320neo Family jets.

According to an Airbus statement, the firm order entails twenty A320neo and ten A321neo with options for a further twelve A320neo Family aircraft. A decision on engine manufacturer will be announced in July.

Deliveries are expected to take place between 2020 and 2025.

In tandem with this announcement, Aegean Airlines has also announced that it plans to invest EUR30 million (USD35 million) into the construction of a 12,000 square meter flight and cabin crew training centre at Athens Airport. Construction is expected to take 24 months.
