Olympic Air (OA, Athens) has acquired a 45% stake in APELLA, a Part 145 certified maintenance company. The current owner of the company, Nikos Kontogiannis, will remain CEO and retain 55%. APELLA currently operates a facility at Athens airport, but plans to develop a new facility on a privately owned plot of land near Volos airport. Aegean Airlines, Olympic Air's parent, said that the acquisition would create synergies with the carrier's existing maintenance and training facility launched in 2024.
