According to the ch-aviation fleets module, Qatar Airways has thirty B787-9s on firm order from Boeing. The airline initially expected to start operating the type in 2019 but was held back by the delays related to the installation of its new QSuite business class seats. While this cabin type is already installed on some B777-300(ER)s, A350-900s, and A350-1000s, the B787-9 version will be slightly altered due to the smaller fuselage diameter.

The Qatari airline already operates thirty B787-8s without the new business class cabins.

The carrier's fleet also includes thirty-one A320-200s, five A321-200s, six A330-200s, thirteen A330-300s, fourteen A350-1000s, thirty-nine -900s, nine B777-200(LR)s, forty-eight -300(ER)s, two A319-100ACJs, five A330-200Fs, two B747-8(F)s, and twenty-one B777-Fs.
