Wizz Air (W6, Budapest) and Ryanair (FR, Dublin International) have suspended their flights to Aqaba in Jordan over security concerns. The Hungarian low-cost carrier has re-routed some flights to Amman Queen Alia.

Ryanair said all of its flights to Aqaba would be suspended from November 11, 2023, through January 4, 2024, "due to operational restrictions beyond Ryanair's control".

Wizz Air cancelled its services to Aqaba from Warsaw Chopin between November 13 and 17, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows, blaming "security-related reasons". The November 21 rotation was flown to Amman, while further flights remain cancelled. The airline also removed its planned services from Katowice Pyrzowice, due to launch in mid-December 2023, from the internet booking engine. Meanwhile, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, which connected the Jordanian leisure destination with Abu Dhabi International, began flying to Amman instead on November 19.

There is no current operational or safety NOTAM affecting the airlines' ability to fly to Aqaba. The Jordanian airport is located just two kilometres from the Israeli border but around 200 kilometres from the Gaza Strip, where the Israeli military is fighting against Hamas.

Turkish Airlines and Royal Jordanian continue to serve Aqaba.
