Virgin Australia Regional (VA, Perth International) has commenced operations with its first E190-E2. The aircraft, VH-E2A (msn 19020185), entered revenue service on October 27 with a flight between Perth International and Boolgeeda.
ch-aviation schedules data shows that the carrier plans to deploy the type from Perth to Albany, WA, Boolgeeda, Busselton, Geraldton, WA, and Koodaideri Mine. By summer 2026, as additional aircraft are delivered, it will also deploy the Embraer aircraft to Barimunya, Broome, Coondewanna, Darwin, Gruyere, AU, Kalgoorlie, Karratha, Kununurra, Onslow, Port Hedland, and West Angelas.
In September, ch-aviation reported the arrival of the first E190-E2, which will be a replacement for Virgin Australia Regional's two remaining F100 aircraft. The Fokker Aircraft jets, which 32 years old on average, are scheduled for retirement by early 2026.
VH-E2A, powered by a pair of Pratt & Whitney PW1919G engines, is on a dry-lease from lessor Azorra. It is configured to carry 76 passengers in economy, 16 in economy plus, and eight in business.
Virgin Australia Regional has firm commitments for eight E190-E2s in total, with the remaining seven aircraft scheduled for delivery into 2027.
The regional subsidiary of Virgin Australia Group currently operates a fleet of seven aircraft: four A320-200s, the single E190-E2, and two F100s.
