Korean Air (KE, Seoul Incheon) has converted seven of its pre-existing orders for A350-1000s into A350F freighters.

The airline told ch-aviation that the seven A350Fs are “part of [Korean's] freighter modernisation plan”. They are scheduled for deliveries in “the late 2020s”.

Following the conversion, the airline's order book for A350 family aircraft comprises four A350-900s (on top of two that have already been delivered), twenty -1000s, and the seven freighters. Asiana Airlines, which Korean Air will eventually integrate, already operates fifteen -900s and has another 15 on order.

Earlier this year, Korean Air announced a tentative commitment for 103 aircraft from Boeing, including eight B777-8Fs. However, this deal has yet to be firmed.

Korean Air's cargo fleet currently comprises four B747-400ERFs, seven B747-8Fs, and twelve B777-200Fs. Asiana was forced to divest its freighter business to AIRZETA (formerly Air Incheon) as part of the conditions for the merger to proceed.
