Air Astana (KC, Astana Nursultan Nazarbayev) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Airbus to order twenty-five A320neo family aircraft with a further 25 purchase options. The aircraft will be operated both by the mainline and its low-cost carrier subsidiary, FlyArystan (FS, Astana Nursultan Nazarbayev).

Deliveries are due to begin in 2031. Air Astana said that the order would include both A320-200Ns and A321-200Ns, and that "the majority" of the order will be A321-200NX(LR)s, but did not provide an exact split.

"Air Astana was one of the first airlines to install a deluxe configuration [on the A321-200NX(LR)s] for deployment on its pioneering long-haul services to Asia and Europe. Air Astana's operation of the A321LR over the past five years has set the standard for new operators of the type around the world," the airline said in a press release.

ch-aviation data shows the carrier currently operates eleven A320-200Ns, three A321-200s, four A321-200Ns, and thirteen A321-200NX(LR)s in terms of its narrowbody fleet. FlyArystan, in turn, operates fifteen A320-200s and thirteen A320-200Ns. The group's only non-A320 family aircraft are three B767-300ERs operated by the mainline.
