The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has given local carriers a 90-day deferment to provide bank-backed advance payment guarantees (APGs) that should ensure the timely remittance of a statutory 5% ticket sales charge (TSC). Airlines are required to collect the statutory levy from passengers and remit it to the authority to fund sector regulation. The grace period is to allow carriers to regularise outstanding TSC payments. This follows a meeting between the NCAA and Airline Operators of Nigeria, which pledged that all member carriers would meet their obligations within the deferment period.
