SmartLynx Australia (QN, Cairns) has returned to its old Skytrans brand, following the divestment by Avia Solutions Group and subsequent operational closure of the SmartLynx Airlines brand in Europe.

The airline confirmed the transition in a press release, noting that the rebranding is limited to corporate identity. Operations will continue under the existing Australian AOC without disruption. Skytrans' certificate, CASA.AOC.0042, is currently valid until August 1, 2029.

"The Skytrans Australia name reflects the full value of the business today and a long-standing commitment to providing reliable air connectivity across regional Australia," the carrier said.

Skytrans operates a mixed fleet of nine Dash 8 turboprops and two A319-100 jets, according to ch-aviation data. It focuses on regular public transport (RPT) services and fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) charters, alongside ACMI operations.

ASG divested its European SmartLynx units in late 2025. SmartLynx Airlines, SmartLynx Airlines Estonia, and SmartLynx Airlines Malta were sold to external investors and subsequently ceased commercial operations. ASG confirmed at the time that the Australian and Thai units would be rebranded to align with active subsidiaries.

The holding acquired Skytrans in January 2024, adopting the SmartLynx Australia brand in mid-2025. The carrier's Thai sister unit, formerly Thai SmartLynx Airlines, has also abandoned the branding, returning to its original name of BBN Airlines Thailand.
