Air Canada (AC, Montréal Trudeau) has ordered eight A350-1000s with a further eight purchase rights. The carrier signed the deal in November 2025, but it had so far been undisclosed.
The airline said that the deliveries are scheduled to begin in "the second half of the 2030s".
"Air Canada’s acquisition of the Airbus A350-1000 will further solidify our position as a leading global airline through the next decade. This state-of-the-art aircraft adds a new dimension to Air Canada’s long-haul capabilities, with impressive range, enhanced payload, and proven economics that unlock new possibilities for long-haul flying for our customers," said executive vice-president and chief commercial officer Mark Galardo.
The aircraft will become Air Canada's first new-generation Airbus widebodies. The carrier's twin-aisle fleet currently comprises twenty legacy A330-300s (19.2 years of age on average), six B777-200LRs (18.3 years), nineteen B777-300ERs (15.7 years), eight B787-8s (11.4 years), and thirty-two B787-9s (8.4 years). It has an unfilled order for fourteen B787-10s, which it expects to induct between 2026 and 2030.
