Emirates (EK, Dubai International) said it would "begin operating a limited number of flights commencing on the evening of 2 March" after the United Arab Emirates' General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) partially reopens airports in the northwestern part of the country, including Dubai International.
The regulator issued a Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM) effective on 1716L (1316Z) on March 2, allowing airlines to depart from and arrive to Dubai International, Dubai World Central, Sharjah, and Ras al Khaimah International through a limited number of routes.
This follows an earlier reopening of airports further away from the border with Iran, including Abu Dhabi International. Etihad Airways subsequently restarted limited operations prioritising passengers whose travel was interrupted by the closure of the airspace on February 28.
Meanwhile, the Jordanian authorities announced that the country's airspace will be closed daily between 1800L (1500Z) and 0900L (0600Z), until further notice. Royal Jordanian will continue operating out of Amman Queen Alia, but its schedule will be affected by the limited opening hours.
