Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt International) is working on contingency plans to mitigate potential jet fuel shortages in the second half of 2026, which could include additional fuel stops at airports where supply will be better. Chief financial officer Till Streichert said Lufthansa Group was not expecting shortages until the end of June, especially at its main hubs. However, CEO Carsten Spohr simultaneously called on the European Commission to allow the use of US-made JET-A fuel without secondary refining to the EU's JET-A1 standard. He also advocated the suspension of anti-tankering rules, to allow airlines to take more fuel at airports with safe supply.
