United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare) took delivery of its first A321-200NY(XLR) on June 3, after N64321 (msn 12581) was ferried from Hamburg Finkenwerder to Tampa International, ADS-B data shows.

This is the first aircraft from an order of fifty A321-200NY(XLR)s that United ordered directly from Airbus. The carrier is the second in the United States to receive an XLR, after American Airlines, while JetBlue Airways is also expected to operate the type in the future.

According to ch-aviation fleets data, there are five more XLRs that have already received their registrations and will be delivered to United shortly: N54323 (msn 12979), N54325 (msn 13132), N54326 (msn 13040), N64322 (msn 12820), and N64324 (msn 13082).

Last month, United also took delivery of the first increased maximum takeoff weight (iMTOW) B787-9. The increase in question enables about three metric tonnes of extra payload, or over 300 nautical miles (555 kilometres) of additional range. The aircraft is N81105 (msn 68651).

Boeing will also introduced an iMTOW B787-10, which will be able to carry about five metric tonnes of extra payload or over 400 nautical miles (740 kilometres) of additional range.
