Scheduled regional carrier Air Mountain (AMT, Sion) was declared bankrupt on May 27 by the Court of Sion, with over 30 weekly services out of Sion, St. Tropez, and La Chaux-de-Fonds now cancelled. Director Raphaël Délèze told Radio Télévision Suisse that the company is considering an appeal of the ruling and expected operations to resume shortly. As of June 29, both of its aircraft remain parked.
Délèze said the timing of the decision was particularly unfortunate, as the summer season had just begun and tickets had already been sold.
Air Mountain operated scheduled services between Sion and Alghero, Calvi, Elba Island, and Figari, as well as between St. Tropez and Geneva, using two eight-seat King Air B200 Beech (twin turboprop)s: HB-GJM (msn BB-255), built in 1977, and HB-GJI (msn BB-451), manufactured in 1979. The company further provided capacity for tour operator VT Vacances in La Chaux-des-Fonds.
The operator's financial situation deteriorated in 2025 after HB-GJM was grounded for over three months due to costly maintenance, disrupting the start of the season. While that aircraft was active in May 2026 until the bankruptcy declaration, HB-GJI has been parked at Teuge since November 12.
The court was informed of Air Mountain's over-indebtedness in March and issued a bankruptcy ruling in late May. According to Délèze, a restructuring plan was already in place.
The Swiss Federal Office of Civil Aviation removed Air Mountain's AOC on June 10. VT Vacances director Stéphane Jayet told Swiss news outlet ArcInfo that, following the suspension of Air Mountain's operations, the company is now negotiating with a foreign carrier to take over services in La Chaux-de-Fonds as soon as possible.
