Shenzhen Airlines (ZH, Shenzhen) and Loong Air (GJ, Hangzhou) have expressed interest in adding C919s, the South China Morning Post newspaper reported, citing statements by executives from both airlines at an aviation forum in Guangzhou.

Shenzhen Airlines deputy president for engineering and technology, Xiong Taotao, said the carrier "hopes to fly the C919 in the near future", although supply chain constraints and COMAC's production rate remain obstacles.

Directors from Loong Air reportedly also expressed "strong interest" in the C919 as the airline looks to expand and diversify its fleet. According to ch-aviation data, it currently operates an all-A320 family fleet.

Shenzhen Airlines' interest comes a month after it signed an agreement with Airbus for forty A320neo family aircraft, with deliveries planned from 2029 through 2032. It operates a mixed fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft comprising seventy-two A320-200s, thirty-five A320-200Ns, eight A321-200NX, six A330-300s, two A350-900s, sixteen B737-8s, and seventy-one B737-800s.

Meanwhile, Loong Air operates a 78-aircraft fleet comprising one A319-100, twenty-seven A320-200s, thirty-eight A320-200Ns, and twelve A321-200NX. In its pre-IPO prospectus, the carrier disclosed that 77 of the 126 Airbus aircraft it had ordered had been delivered as of June 2026.

Neither carrier has a firm order for the Chinese-built aircraft, although both have existing commitments for additional A320neo family aircraft.
