Air Services (Guyana) (Georgetown Eugene F. Correia International) plans to construct Guyana’s first fixed-base operator (FBO) facility at Georgetown Eugene F. Correia International as part of a wider expansion programme that includes fleet growth. The full-service facility will cater to corporate and international business jet traffic with VIP lounges, ground handling, refuelling, flight dispatch, and MRO services. In March, Air Services Limited (ASL) managing director, Mazahar Ally, disclosed plans for an FBO at Georgetown Cheddi Jagan. The project cost was estimated at USD25-30 million, with the facility primarily intended for hangaring company aircraft and executive jets.
Fleet-wise, ASL has added seven aircraft over the past two years towards a total of approximately 50 units, comprising C208 Grand Caravan Cessna (single turboprop)s, Britten-Norman BN-2 Islanders, and C172 and C206 Cessna (single piston)s, among other types. ASL is further expanding its helicopter and agricultural aviation fleets, has increased daily schedules by up to 30%, and is preparing for regional charter operations. The current expansion phase is expected to increase the workforce from roughly 300 to 450 employees.
