Kalitta Air (K4, Detroit Willow Run) has reportedly ordered eight A350Fs, marking the US cargo operator's first acquisition of Airbus capacity.
A Kalitta spokesperson confirmed to Reuters that the airline is currently evaluating the A350F platform as part of its long-term fleet planning, but has yet to make a decision and has "no aircraft order to announce."
Publicly available Airbus data for August 2026 shows a firm order for eight of the freighters, although the name of the customer is not disclosed. The manufacturer rarely comments on commercial discussions.
According to ch-aviation data, Kalitta operates nine B747-400(BCF)s, one B747-400ERF, thirteen B747-400Fs, eight B777-200Fs, and seven B777-300(ERSF)s.
As ch-aviation previously reported, the airline planned to gradually replace its legacy fleet of B747 freighters with the new B777s. MD Connie Kalitta said at the time the B777s would give the carrier greater range and payload capability to meet growing demand in the global cargo market.
Kalitta had not responded to a ch-aviation request for comment on the matter at the time of writing.
