FlyUSA (Tampa International) has opened a new owner-exclusive 50,000-square-foot (4,645-square-metre) hangar and lounge at Tampa International, citing fleet growth and demand for additional capacity for larger business jets. Of FlyUSA's managed fleet of 30 aircraft, 20 are based in the region and will use the new facility. “The sheer size of the hangar should help accelerate our move into managing larger aircraft because we have space for them now,” said Barry Shevlin, CEO of FlyUSA, highlighting a broader hangar shortage as older infrastructure cannot accommodate newer ultra-long-range jets.

As an owner-exclusive base, FlyUSA's charter customers will continue to use other FBO facilities. The company plans another 50,000-square-foot hangar on leased land at Lakeland, intended for longer heavy-maintenance work and expected to become operational in late 2028 or early 2029. FlyUSA expects to manage 100 aircraft by 2032.
