The board at Fiji Airways (FJ, Nadi) has approved a five-year strategy aimed at restoring "sustainable profitability" and avoiding any call on a FJD200 million Fijian dollar (USD88 million) government borrowing guarantee, chief executive Paul Scurrah told a parliamentary committee on October 13, 2026. Scurrah said the strategy outlines profitability and reinvestment milestones that lenders will assess when considering financing. He linked recent cost reductions to the airline's planned addition of 125,000 seats to its international network in 2027. The parliament approved the guarantee in August, when the government also disclosed the carrier's target of returning to sustainable profitability in 2027.
