IranAir (IR, Tehran Mehrabad) has signed a firm order agreement with ATR - Avions de Transport Régional (EVX, Toulouse Blagnac) for twenty ATR72-600s Deputy Minister Roads & Urban Development, Asghar Fakhrieh Kashan, has announced.

An official statement issued by the Ministry on Monday, April 10, states that although a deal was reached some weeks ago, a final agreement remained elusive given protracted talks with engine manufacturer, Pratt & Whitney Canada, about how the ATR72's PW127M powerplants would be used, as well as the provision of after-sales support and the provision of spares.

ATR has, however, denied a final agreement has been signed adding that talks are still in progress.

According to Fakhrieh Kashan, four aircraft are due to arrive in the next fifteen (15) days followed by nine more by year-end. The remaining seven will arrive in 2018.

Iran Air's original deal also included options for twenty more ATR72-600s.
